Glenkens Honey Company
Glenkens Honey Company apiaries are nestled in and around the outskirts of the villages of St Johns Town of Dalry, New Galloway and Balmaclellan. They Love Nature and their Bees and they aim to provide natural, great tasting, local and affordable seasonal honey as well as wax products to their immediate Glenkens Communities and surrounding areas. They started beekeeping as a hobby a good few years ago as a family looking to become more self sustainable. Now they try to grow their own veggies, tend their colonies of bees and enjoy their ducks eggs. They lovingly tend to their ‘girls’ throughout the year, doing routine health checks to ensure strong healthy colonies go into each season with enough food for themselves before they harvest any excess honey or wax and try to make sure there is harmony with other local pollinators. The bees and other pollinators have an important role to play in our environment so looking after them makes it easier for them to look after us in the big scheme of things.
